Description

A picture I've been working on for a few days.
I got this idea like a week ago, and decided to finally work on it.

Gives me some practice with backgrounds and such. Specially since I have a few commissions and trades where I need to do a background.

Also I wanted to test out my new hair technique on Solar, since I can never be happy with her hair.
But I do like how this one came out! ^^
I think it's how I shall do hair.

So here is my OC Solar Eclipse during a Solar Eclipse. :3

Name:
Solar Eclipse

Gender
Female

Age:
N/A - "20ish"

Species:
Unicorn

Talent:
Magic. As a blind pony she's learn how to use magic to help her in many ways. Even at times creating her own spells. Such as the temporary "To See" spell.
Where the cutie mark comes into play with her talent is still a mystery she has yet to learn. ~ Though some think she gains her power from celestial bodies.

Cutie Mark
A Solar Eclipse ~ Or one celestial body being eclipsed by another.

Personality
She's rather shy, and enjoys being alone. She can usually be found in the mountains or forests practicing her magic. Since she's blind she actually creates her own spells, and records them into an enchanted journal, though Orion(pony from the stars) has taught her a lot. Even through her shyness she's always willing to help, and she'll even defend somepony if needed. She has a soft and kind heart. She's pretty strong willed and wont let anything get in her way that would stop her goals.

Biography
Solar grew up with loving parents whom cared dearly for their darling daughter. As a child, she was introduced to astronomy and stargazing, and was given her very own telescope as a birthday gift. One night, Solar set up her telescope out on the lawn and began to study the various stars and constellations.
That is when she came across one particular constellation. It was simply known as the rearing stallion, and was nothing more than a common constellation, she knew it like the back if her own hoof!
But this night, it looked different. A few other stars seemed to have joined the constellation, building onto it. Solar was confused and continued to stare at it, that's when it happened. The stars began to glimmer brightly and wisp around.
The rearing stallion suddenly had wings and a horn! And it was moving! The stallion threw it's head back and suddenly there was an explosion of a bright light.
Solar cried out in pain as the light struck her eyes. Her parents had also seen the light, but not directly like their daughter. They rushed her to the hospital and where given the bad news, their daughter's eyesight was permanently lost.
Solar's life was turned upside down as she had to readjust to life through her blindness, learning how to trust her ears and sense of motion.
Also, during this event Solar gained what every little filly wanted, she got her cutie mark.
But after the bandages were removed, Solar made a new discovery. She wasn't completely blind! Her world wasn't a black pit of darkness, but a soft, white blur. She could still see vague shapes around her, and assumed they were other ponies, but one shape stood out. It was massive and didn't seem to belong. The first time she saw it, she asked if one of the princesses from Equestria was visiting. To her shock, they weren't.
She tried telling her parents that she had seen what seemed to be an alicorn, this caused great concern in her parents, and they tried to tell themselves that she was merely imagining things, that she created imaginary friends to cope with her blindness.
And maybe they were right. She kept seeing the shape and had on occasions tried speaking with it, but it never replied and instead she was met with worried voices of surrounding ponies. But the worried voices soon turned into mocking laughter at the blind filly and her imaginary friend. Was the blindness really getting to her?
As she grew, the shape never left her side, but it never spoke to her either, instead, she was starting to feel it. She would feel phantom muzzles brushing up against her cheek, or the soft feathers of a large wing brushing over her back like a warm summer-breeze. But she knew they weren't real, because she could feel them even when nopony was around! Was she starting to go crazy?
As Solar grew, a dire event caused her life to turn upside down once more. Her mother had succumb to a terminal disease and didn't last long.
The loss was great on Solar and she grieved for a very long time, not even her father could comfort her. But in the midst of her sadness, a familiar feathery feeling brushed over her back, and this time, it was accompanied by a voice.
She turned her head to see the large shape laying next to her, the shape gradually becoming more refined as she could make out the large wings and long horn more clear.
The voice was male and spoke softly to her, telling her that her mother had fought the disease a long time and she realized she could no longer fight it. He told her that despite the loss of her mother, she was not alone.
It didn't take long for Solar to come around, still saddened by her mother's death, but she had listened to the voice and was there to comfort her father.
When the time came, Solar was grown enough to live on her own and moved out. However, with a heavy heart, she left the little forest. It brought on too many bad memories, not only from the death of her mother, but the constant bullying.
She had learned that after her accident, the constellation called the Rearing Stallion, vanished and was never seen again. She was certain that the stallion had left the sky and was accompanying her. But no one had believed her.
When the voice began, it told her that her theories were true and that other ponies did not believe her because they no longer knew the tale of how the constellation came to be.  But she knew, and it didn't matter if nopony else believed her.
Solar moved into the mountains, where, with the help of the voice, she trained magic of many kinds. She became sort of a hermit, only leaving her mountain home to visit her father, or the other Lands of the Eternal Seasons.
As time passed, she began letting other ponies into her life after she met an earth pony named Enchanted Breeze. The earth pony moved in with Solar, and is helping her grow more social again as she is gaining more and more friends, all under the watchful eye of the voice.
Solar Eclipse recently became the Princess of the "Lands of Eternal Winter". Her Kingdom is made of ice, and the side of a mountain. She now is the one that protects the Winter Stone. There are Three other rulers, Ruby Leaves of the "Lands of Eternal Autumn", Flora of the "Lands of Eternal Spring", and Blaze of the "Lands of Eternal Summer".
A small forest in the center of all these lands, and where Solar grew up, is a forest that acts on it's own. With it's own seasons.
Solar has taken up a pupil, Lavender Aroma, teaching her everything she knows.
